I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Clayton, NC. I have a wide variety of experience working as a therapist in diverse settings since 1993.

I provide cognitive behavioral therapy with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Although I am not originally from this area, I have lived in the Triangle area for many years and have extensive experience working in both public and private care settings in both clinical and leadership roles.

I grew up in a military family and was in the Army myself, and enjoy working with military personnel and their families. Military families have unique stressors and challenges that I am equipped to help you work thru.

I have worked extensively with both foster and adopted children and their families since 1993 in both child mental health and child welfare settings.

I have two children of my own, so I am very knowledgeable about parenting challenges, child development, childhood disorders, & working with local school systems in treating behavior disorders and referring out for psycho-educational testing. I have been trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy as well as EMDR & Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy. Additionally, I have extensive experience assisting families who may require or need help accessing more specialized levels of care such as day treatment, residential treatment, and/or inpatient care.

Whether working with children or adults, I work hard to help individuals build on their unique strengths & better understand their symptoms to develop more effective skills in managing or eliminating their symptoms. I often educate clients about improved communication skills, relaxation skills, conflict management, and stress reduction techniques. When working with children and adolescents I think it's essential for parents to be involved in the treatment. This ensures that the child is learning skills that will help him/her to better manage their environment while the parent also learns or gets support with how to encourage the use of the skills in the home environment. My therapeutic style is best described as an engaging, down to earth approach in which I work hard to provide interventions that are practical and useful to your unique needs and situation.

Although change and growth can be a challenging process, with the right support and relationship anything is possible. I look forward to helping you accomplish whatever your goals or objectives may be for you and your family.
